I am a huge fan of the sequential art. I love to illustrate stories of all kinds. I have written my thesis paper about storytelling and its huge impact it has on education and society. I think the theories that graphic novels use are in line with what good interactive engaging online learning should be about.
I have spent much of my time at the University of Washington School of Nursing designing and developing online training, new UI's for websites, and web applications for many departments that were awarded grants. It was a great experience to work in a high academia and many different talented people to develop for many different areas of medicine.
This VTE project that I feature here was one of my proudest moments. It was considered to be a tool site that others should model. This was said by the grant institute that was funding this project during the review meeting. Everything they liked about the site was exactly what we were designing for.
These are a few samples of some Flash animations I did for online education companies. I have worked in a team environment as well as freelance to bring engaging and dynamic animations to illustrate complex subjects for both young educators and seasoned professionals.
It was a very rewarding experience to work in an field that allowed me to flex my creative muscles on a variety of complex and simple subjects that I was challenged with turning into dynamic and understandable pieces of training for either academic or professional education.
Medical Airline Training
This was one module that trained airline employees how to use a defibrillator for emergency purposes on a plane. I helped with building the animations pieces and synced the audio that was recorded in our in house studio audio engineer. I built this using Flash and a 3D application. This played inside a custom Flash player that we built.
We worked closely with the subject matter experts in Phoenix AZ to get the accuracy and make sure we were on message.
